Interviewing Mrs. Miller

November 29th, on a Thursday afternoon, MaryAlice, known as Mrs.Miller was able to squeeze me in her time to do a quick interview of her about her job. Shes the current choir teacher of Wyoming High School. I was able to get the inside scoop on how rehearsals and getttin ready for the concert are going, what she liked most about being a choir teacher and much more. Down below are some questions I asked.

1. Q: When is the concert?

A: its a Holiday theme concert on Thursday 20th 7:00 at the Fine Arts center which is currently at Wyoming Middle School. The second perfomance is by honors choir which will be performing at the Gerald R. Ford Air Port.

2. Q: How are the rehearsals going?

A: "We have our good and bad days" Miller responded.

3. Q: What is the most difficult part about preparing for the concert?

A:  "Getting the student to memorize the songs", she also happended to mention its not just the words they have to remember but also the high and low notes they have to hit, being on the right pace with her and also smiling the whole time instead of looking bored up on stage.

4. Q: What song are you looking forward to doing?

A: The Little Drummer, Be joyful, ReJoice, Carol of the Bells, Joy to the World, a song by Bock and Handal and much more classical Christmas songs.

5. Q: What do you enjoy the most about preparing for the concert?

A: Mrs.Miller stated she likes hearing what her students can do, and the finish product after the perfomance so they can look back and go "Wow".

AC/DC Quiets iTunes Boycott

                                   AC/DC Quiets iTunes Boycott

AC/DC has been against iTunes because they would rather have their fans  buy their whole album instead of just downloading single tracks. The band states  "Since iTunes came into existence, we've actually increased our back-catalog sales without being on site." Another reason why AC/DC hasn't been on iTunes is because their a band that started off with albums and they want to keep it that way. Kid Rock recently abandoned his iTunes boycott. Kid Rock did this for the same reason as AC/DC.

How Did Hip Hop Start

Many people like and listen to Hip Hop but only a small number of those fans know how hip hop originated or where it came from. Hip Hop has been around for a long time. If you sit back and really look at it, you can actually see how the changes happened and how they changed hip hop. Some people still today argue where the real roots of hip hop began. According to the article "The Hip Hop Story" I would say this uncertainty is due to the fact that you really can’t be sure where people started rapping. People could have already been rapping with friends before anyone else but no one ever found out.

Hip Hop originated in African-American communities during the late 1970′s in New York City. People like DJ Clive “Kool Herc” Campbell is credited as being highly influential in the early stage of hip hop. Hes also known as "the Father of Hip Hop". Many people believe that hip hop was born in the historic building in 1520 Sedwick Avenue, Bronx, New York. This is where DJ Kool Herc and other DJs would perfom at. DJ Clive also found “break beat deejaying” where the breaks of funk songs were repeated and isolated to be used and go with all-night dance parties that people really liked. Then in the 1970s, other popular DJs such as Grandmaster Flash would later develop 12″ records where they would rap to the beat. Ever since then Hip Hop became more popular which lead to our generation of hip hop today.

violence in music

                                      violence in music

Did you know that the music teenagers listen to now days are influencing them to do things that they normally wouldnt do. One of the main types of music thats causing this is Hip Hop/Rap. so the question we ask ourselves now is, What can we do to stop this, or can we stop this? Well im sorry but no, we cant stop this by any means because we cant control how others act or what music they choose to listen to but, we can control how we act and rather or not we let the violence, sexual language, and drug use in lyrics affect us.
Here are some reasons why lyrics are affecting teens now days, well not all teens it seems as if hip hop music is affecting the black population the most. Like for the black males its a 'i dont care about anyone' attiude and listening to loud music all the time, sagging their pants, and using vulgar language. For the black females its loud, ghetto, dressing half naked, and ready to fight at any minute. Those are some ways that hip hop music is affecting our black culture.
Another type of music that is affecting teens is hard metal. I say this because many teens that listen to hard metal music are depressed about something. This type of music can harm teens or just like hip hop music it can affect the brain and have teens doing things that they normally wouldnt do, and have them dress diffrent.
